The SSO 2025 Annual Meeting taking place March 27-29, 2025 in Tampa, FL will offer new educational sessions, disease-site specific content, programming specifically for advanced practice providers, residents and fellows, friendly competitive events, and more networking opportunities. Meeting registration includes in-person attendance, meals provided during programming and networking reception. The Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) designates this live activity for a maximum of 16 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. See SSO 2025 Website for more details: www.SSO2025.org.

SSO has negotiated discounted hotel rates for Annual Meeting attendees. Information on how to book your hotel to be a part of the SSO's official Annual Meeting hotel block will be included in your confirmation email. Reservations must be made by February 17, 2025.

SSO offers a reduced Spouse/Guest registration option that includes session and HUB access. Once you begin your registration, select the "Add Guest" option and fill all out required information as needed. You must save responses before proceeding onto Checkout.

Description

This hands-on course will include lectures from leaders in the field on technical approaches, training and learning curve considerations and tips on starting a robotic program. Hands on didactics utilizing cadavers, live animal surgeries, and bio-tissue anastomotic drills will educate participants on necessary operative steps and develop the robotic skillset to complete pancreatic, liver and gastric resections with direct feedback from robotic HPB/UGI experts. The course is designed for faculty who have preliminary robotic case experience but seek to perform more complex hepatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal procedures.

Randomized controlled trials are considered the gold standard in evidence-based medicine; however, surgical clinical trials come with their own specific challenges. This one-day precourse provides information and instruction regarding surgical clinical trial hypothesis development, study types, investigator responsibilities, statistical consideration, funding, and the regulatory process. Industry will also present their perspective and experience with surgical clinical trials. The course will conclude with two examples of working through the full surgical clinical trial process, with real life examples of successes and failures, of both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored trials.
